Josh Moreinis, a painter and urban planner in the Hudson Valley, focused on oil paintings that traced the imprint of towns and cities on landscapes from Scarborough to Seoul. Josh's work relied on his extensive knowledge of trails and overlooks in the triangle between Lake Champlain, Upstate New York, and Croton Bay, and a tradition that has been passed on for centuries of paying homage in paint to one of the country's most scenic and historic river valleys. His painting Lake Champlain Summer was recently featured in The Art of Lake Champlain (Verve Editions, 2009). Josh died of cancer on July 16, 2010, at age 46. Loving husband of Pamela Ivinski, son of Pat Moreinis Dodge and the late Abel Moreinis, brother of Bram Moreinis. A graduate of Columbia University and a Fulbright Scholar in South Korea, he was a Senior Planner at STV Inc. His joie de vivre will be deeply missed. |
